Drug Rehab CentersIf you’re helping to bring someone you love into a drug rehabilitation program, know that you’re doing the right thing. However, if you are trying to force them to get the help they need, you might want to prepare yourself for a difficult admission process. Thankfully, in most cases, the patient will be fairly cooperative if they are sober, but sometimes, taking someone to a Florida drug rehab center is not an easy task – no matter how lifesaving it might turn out to be. Here are some ways you can prepare the patient and yourself to admit someone to Florida alcohol rehab or drug rehab clinic.

Calling the Center Ahead of Time

The process of admitting someone to a drug rehabilitation center begins long before you park your car in their parking lot. As many of the Florida drug rehab and Florida alcohol rehab centers are often full, you might need to sign up for their waiting list before you can enroll your loved one. Call around to see which centers are accepting new clients and when other centers will be accepting new clients. If the drug addict is in need of quick treatment, you can then talk to clinics who are accepting patients. On the phone with the clinic, you will be asked a series of questions about the patient. These questions will help the clinic determine the nature of the patient’s condition, and it will give them enough facts to begin a new medical chart. You will also have to provide information about health insurance or the other method of payment.

During this call, you will want to ask about the services the drug rehabilitation center offers. The therapies they include in the daily routine should be varied and the patients should be able to see a therapist at least once a day for individual therapy. If the drug addict has been using for a while, they might also need medical supervision as they begin to detox from the drugs, so the clinic will need to have this kind of staff on hand. If you can, try to visit the clinic before you admit a person to make sure it is right for their personality and their needs.

Getting the Patient to Rehab

If the patient is aware you are getting them ready for a Florida drug rehab or a Florida alcohol rehab center, you might want to tell them when they are probably going to take them in – but don’t reveal the actual date. This way, the patient can be brought to the clinic without any additional stress or be compelled to run away before the admit date. If the patient is over 18 years of age, they will not be compelled to stay in drug rehab, so their admittance will be a voluntary one. They will be able to leave when they choose, unless they have a court order or a medical order to stay. If you’re unsure of how you can get the patient there as they are combative, taking them to the hospital during a drunken rage can often lead to rehab referral. Or you may want to have them arrested for drug characters of drunken driving to help push them into the center – but only as a last resort.
